Significant other or not, your pup is always there for you. When it comes to unconditional love, no one fits that bill better than your adorable furbaby. #1. Spend Some Extra Time Outside

Chances are, your pup adores their walks, so what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog than by taking them on one that is extra long, or on an additional one? Walking is a fantastic way not only to get your dog some exercise, but it’s also wonderful for bonding with them. Plus, there’s so much to sniff and explore outside! The mental stimulation combined with the movement and time spent with their favorite human? What a dream!

You may even consider taking them to a dog park, or on a trail. Wherever you go, your pup will follow, tail wagging all the way. Treat them by taking them somewhere new, like a beach or a hiking trail. Or treat them by taking them to their favorite dog park so you can play fetch and they can romp and play with other puppies. Whether you go on a walk, or an excursion, or what have you, spending some extra time outside is a fantastic way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog.

#2. Give Them Valentine’s Day Goodies

Heart-shaped boxes full of chocolates may be the traditional Valentine’s Day treat to exchange between humans, but of course, dogs can’t have chocolate! That doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog by giving them puppy-friendly treats, though. There are so many yummy dog treats out there, and this time of year, many make special Valentine’s Day shaped goodies for puppies.

You may even consider adding an extra-special homemade touch. There are many dog-safe treat recipes you can find online, such as pumpkin dog treats, a peanut butter pop, sweet potato chews, and more. Always, always, always check and double-check whatever recipe you find, though, to ensure that it is, in fact, dog friendly. If you have any questions about whether or not your dog can have something, your vet is always more than happy to help.

#3. Everyone Loves Presents

If you’re looking for an excuse to get your furbaby a new toy or bed or cute outfit, this is it. Your pup may not understand the occasion, but giving them a gift is a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog, the same as with other humans! Plus, it’s a great way to spend some more time together. There are always so many adorable Valentine’s Day toys out there. You can get them a little plush champagne or a Valentine envelope or hearts or whatever catches your eye and makes you think, “Oh, my dog would just love that.”

#4. Spa Day? Yes, Please.

Couples get massages on Valentine’s Day, but it’s not exclusive to them! Your pup enjoys pampering as much as anyone else, and you can celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog by giving them a little spa day of their own. A bath, a grooming, fresh clean teeth - all these will leave your pup refreshed and looking their best. You can give them a massage too, as massages are just as beneficial to dogs as they are to humans.

#5. Teach Them A New Trick

Most of the time, learning new things is super fun for your dog, especially if they see that it makes you happy! Plus, teaching them a new trick is a good way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog because training time = bonding time. Grab some of their favorite treats and do a little 10 or 15 minute training session, to keep it in the realm of fun and exciting, rather than draining and stressful.

#6. Who Doesn’t Like Cuddles?

After a day of showing your dog how much you love and appreciate them, cuddling up with them to watch a movie or read a book is the perfect way to end the holiday on a high note. Snuggles and pets make your dog feel so loved. Being with their favorite human, and then getting pets and cuddles from said favorite human? What bliss. Truly, this is one of the best ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your dog.
